Although Julia has some familiarity Japanese, she found it unexpectedly difficult to navigate cultural norms and bureaucratic systems in Japan—challenges that were even more pronounced for those with no background in Japanese. Motivated by these experiences, Marcus and Julia created Life In Sendai, a community-driven resource to support newcomers, ease transitions, and help others feel more at home. When not working or studying, they enjoy cooking at home, discovering hidden gourmet gems, and relaxing.

Daniel likes cats, board games, movies, interacting with people, making new connections and learning interesting things. He works in IT and is studying Japanese during his spare time. He may move to Japan in the future or, he may not. He has to vaccinate his two cats, Laika and Kubo, first.
